Malta International Fireworks Festival
For this 21st edition, it is being proposed that there are nine (9) Pyro Musical Displays competing against each other whilst having seventy-two (72) Local Licensed Fireworks Factories & Clubs to organize traditional fireworks displays. These Local Licensed Factories are required to serve as a transition between one display and another, and they will also have dedicated days to show their amazing work throughout the Festival.
The Malta International Fireworks Festival took a more unique International standing when apart from the Pyro Musical Displays, there was the inclusion of the Traditional Maltese Fireworks. The definition of the word Pyro Musical Display is the combination of a pyrotechnical display synchronized with music. Pyro Musical Displays use lower-cost fireworks materials, to create a fireworks entertainment show that is synchronized to a musical theme. Traditional local fireworks, on the other hand, are more complex, faithful to local, authentic, hand-made, traditional production. Local participants showcase their talent through their artisanal expertise that cannot be compared to the machine-produced fireworks that are generally imported.
To increase this local element, it is being considered to involve most of the Firework’s Organisations in Malta which amount to around seventy-two (72). To allow the MIFF to retain its special standing, it is being proposed that the local fireworks Organisations can showcase their talent in additional dates, being held throughout the Festival.
