Festa tal-Kuncizzjoni
Between the 28th of November and the 8th of December, the City of Cospicua celebrated the feast of the Immaculate Conception. Although it is considered a challenge to organise a feast during the month of December, due to the weather, every year, the City will be prepared for this yearly event. Whilst the internal festivities kick off on the 28th of November with the taking out of the niche of the titular statue, and on the 29th of November the Novena starts at 5.45 am, the external festivities kick off on the 5th of December where various activities will be held. On the 8th of December, at 6.00 pm, the procession with the titular statue will take place along the streets of Cospicua. Some important aspects of the procession are held at 6.00 pm when the statue will be taken out of the Church, in front of the Monastery of St Margaret, where the nuns will sing the Salve Regina, and at 10.15 pm when the statue will enter back at the church which is a spectacle on its own.
The church is one of the most renowned when decorated with different silver pieces. The statue, made by the local Abram Gatt, is the main attraction in the Church. Whilst music inside the church will be under ta baton of the Tota Pulchra Choir, and that of Cappella Diacono, during the external festivities various band clubs will play around the city streets, mainly St George's Band Club, which is Cospicua's Band. Although the festivities takes place during the month of December, Centru 19 ta' Novembru 1944, will decorate the streets with the finest decorations and will organise different fireworks shows. All these festivities will be in collaboration with the Collegiate Chapter of the Immaculate Conception Church.
