Early Music Day Concert

Concert in Memory of Mgr John Azzopardi

Festivals Malta presents a concert in honour of Mgr John Azzopardi to celebrate Early Music Day 2022 together with several other countries around the world.  The concert features the Monteverdi Project and the Valletta Baroque Ensemble who will be performing works from Vincenzo Tozzi, Biagio Marini, Carlo Farina, Francesco Turini and Tarquino Merula.

The archives of the Mdina Cathedral in Malta are a valuable resource for the international musicological world, given the large amount of musical repertoire from the 17th and 18th centuries. Much of the material consists of printed works acquired at the time from major Italian publishers. Important studies have been carried out by John Azzopardi, Joe Vella Bondin, Franco Bruni and many other scholars. This concert is being organised in collaboration with Mdina Cathedral Archives.
